NZ Maths
An inspiring resource for learning numeracy
Explore these teaching and learning materials available at NZ Maths – the home of mathematics education in New Zealand
Numeracy Focus: All
The site is organised into three sections: Professional development, Teaching material, and Families and whanau.
Although the site is New Zealand based, it contains a wide range of valuable resources that are easily transferable to the Australian context.
The teaching materials include units of work that are organised by the strands Number and Algebra, Geometry and Measurement, and Statistics.
Examples of rich learning activities and problem-solving activities are provided, along with a number of resources developed through the NZ numeracy project.
Navigating this site depends on your role: Teachers could begin with accessing the section ‘Teaching material’, and selecting a strand such as Number and algebra units, then ‘Number strategies’ to access units of work focusing on addition and subtraction, multiplication and division and fractions.
Smart Doubling is an example of a unit of work appropriate for Level 2 with a focus on addition and subtraction.
