Optical Art Task
An inspiring resource for learning numeracy
Uncover numeracy in optical illusions
Numeracy Focus: Exploring patterns and relationships
In this Optical Art task students create an optical illusion, considering the mathematics required to create an illusion, as well as, posing mathematical questions to their peer group.
Using a grid students design their own pattern that creates an illusion and answer questions regarding the mathematics involved in their illusion.
The task combines visual and logical thinking and encourages collaboration between peers to refine the optical artwork until their pattern reveals an illusion.
