Fireworks on your calculator
An inspiring resource for learning numeracy
Make parabolic fireworks displays on your graphic calculator
Numeracy Focus: Exploring patterns and relationships
This activity engages students to use their graphics calculators and investigate how to make different shape parabolas to form a fireworks display.
The worksheet attached provides information and prompting questions to assist students in manipulating their quadratic equations to create different parabolas.
The task leads students to discover how different transformations are achieved by changing the equation and how altering the window settings allows us to only view a portion of the graph.
