An inspiring resource for learning numeracy

Refine your mathematical content knowledge and understanding

Numeracy Focus: All

This site is an Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers (AAMT) initiative, dedicated to the professional learning of mathematics educators.

It includes professional learning modules and related classroom resources along with an online community discussion forum.

It provides instructions on how to best use its resources, which are organised under five Content Knowledge headings: Algebra, Geometry, Number, Probability and Statistics. They are cross referenced by Level, Proficiencies and Teaching and Classroom Practices: Assessment, Curriculum, Planning and Student Learning.

Activities on the site come from a range of sources, for example the AAMT Top Drawer for Teachers resource (described more fully under its own heading), and two projects developed under the Australian Mathematics and Science Partnership Program (AMSPP):

–  Reframing Mathematical Futures project (RMFII) at RMIT University which provides resources to support algebraic, geometric and statistical reasoning;

–  TEMPEST project (University of Tasmania), which provides modules to support professional learning for such aspects as developing open questioning in your classrooms.

Modules provide clear instructions for teachers with learning objectives, curriculum links, reflective prompts, and motivating questions for students.
